My Dear Cousin Hilda & Family,
We were ever so pleased to hear from you again. We have not heard from you since Dec. 5 1952. Well dear I must first tell you the sad news that our dear Mother passed away the 2 of Nov and was buried the 9 of Nov. It was a loss for us all but we must not wish her back now she is free of pain and at rest but I am glad as I was home and saw her when she was well but I did not know it would be the last time.
I must first begin by thanking you for that nice hankerchief. I love and treasure anything from other countries. I was glad you liked the tatty I will make some more for you if you would like it.
Well now it is strange at our name Elizabeth is spelled the same way as I have never known at you was 57 years old. I am born in Aug 28 1892 in London married 30 of April 1913. Charlie's name is not Charlie I have given him that name. His name is Hans Theodor Kaehne born in Odense Denmark the 10 of July 1887.
Now dear cousin it will soon be Christmas and it takes 3 weeks for a letter so we must wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and may there be Peace on Earth for everyone.
Yes the mormons have visited us a great deal but now we have moved but I suppose they will find us. they were very nice youngman but they did not keep their promise by saying "When they go back to Salt Lake that they would visit you." No I have not been to the meetings because I can not go out when it is cold at night. I have a bad heart it is too large. Yes I would like to see you some one day in Danmark. You will be very welcome now we hope to hear from you soon again lots of love to you all in America. God bless you all and keep you safe. Good night sweet dreams

ACCURACY NOTE: All letters are transcribed as written. Spelling & grammar mistakes, missing punctuation, run on sentences and such are left true to the original author's penmanship. However, in some cases, I do add periods and paragraph breaks (usually at the page turn) to make them easier to read. And yes, sometimes I make a few errors when I have trouble reading someone's writing.
